Colombia Agriculture Insights

Colombia is a country with enormous potential.

It has extraordinary agricultural land, biodiversity, natural resources, talented people, and a geographic position that should make international trade a tremendous opportunity.

But potential doesn't automatically become prosperity.

There are structural problems that need to be confronted—agriculture, infrastructure, security, logistics, access to financing, technology, international markets, and perhaps most importantly, the relationship between the people who produce and the people who profit.

Living here has allowed me to see Colombia differently than I did from the outside.

I've met farmers.

I've visited farms.

I've listened to producers talk about their problems.

And I've seen the disconnect between the people producing the food and the markets consuming it.

My goal isn't to criticize Colombia from the sidelines.

It's to understand it.

And wherever possible, help build something better.

This section documents what I see, what I learn, and what I believe Colombia can become.
